Battle ropes are often thought of as a tool for your upper body, which they are. However, their benefits don't end there.
Battle rope workouts work the muscles in your abs, back, and glutes, and you can incorporate movements, such as jumps, lunges, and squats, that work your legs. Battle ropes also provide a great way to get top-end power like you would doing a one-rep max in barbell lifts like the squat or snatch.
But unlike with the bar, there’s a very nominal risk of injury. If your form breaks down on a max with a barbell, your risk for injury increases enormously because of the weight involved. If you screw up with the rope, the exercise won’t be effective but it won’t hurt you.
