In high school I was ranked the number one prospect in the nation by Baseball America going into my senior year. I’ve played with Team USA’s Youth national team in 2005 and 2007 in Mexico. I’ve won the Jackie Robinson Award for national player of the year that was presented at the Aflac All American game. After my senior season of high school I was selected in the 4th round of the MLB draft by the Kansas City Royals. I decided to forgo my college commitment to UNC And signed professionally for a $ 1.25 million dollar bonus.
I’ve competed for the past four years as a starting pitcher in the Kansas City Royals minor league system. Most recently this year as a starting pitcher for their Double A squad in the Texas League. I suffered a broken pinkie on a comeback pitch back in May and missed the remainder of this season rehabbing that injury. Last year I received the organizational Mike Sweeny award, basically my community work off the field and the way I played on the field represented the “Royals Way.”
