Lucid Dreaming is a state where at least one of the conditions apply:
In two independent studies, a subject who was able to lucid dream was given a predetermined set of eye movements to complete while dreaming. Brain monitors confirmed the subject was asleep, and the subject was able to move his pupils in the planned directions in real life, by looking around in his dreams.

In addition, while in a lucid dream state, EEG machines showed brain frequencies in the 40hz range, 5-10 times higher than in normal dream state, and even higher than some waking states.

I’ve always used dreams the way you’d use mirrors to look at something you couldn’t see head-on, the way that you use a mirror to look at your hair in the back. To me that’s what dreams are supposed to do. I think that dreams are a way that people’s minds illustrate the nature of their problems. Or maybe even illustrate the answers to their problems in symbolic language.
