Native American Natural Foods of Kyle, S.D., and Onnit Labs of Austin, Texas, have partnered to create a co-branded product called the Warrior Bar, a spicy bison meat-and-cranberry food bar offering 14 grams of protein.
The new Warrior Bar is the first product in a joint product line focused on consumers who are looking for natural, high-performance, real food to fuel their lifestyles. Both companies will debut the Warrior Bar at Natural Products Expo West, March 6-9, in Booths #1390 and #6029 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA.
“Our alliance with Tanka represents the ideal of what we strive for in a partnership,” said Aubrey Marcus, founder of Onnit Labs. “Like ourselves, Tanka takes pride in putting out an exemplary product that is of great benefit to the end consumer, while still making a positive impact on both the environment and community.”
According to Mark Tilsen, president of Native American Natural Foods, the new partnership with Onnit is a great step forward for Native American Natural Foods and its Tanka buffalo brand.
“Based on a traditional Native American recipe that powered Lakota Sioux warriors for centuries, the new Tanka Onnit Warrior Bar is designed for today’s modern warrior who is dedicated to maximum performance,” Tilsen said.
In addition to 14 grams of protein, the Warrior Bar also features 140 calories and 4 grams of fat per 2-ounce serving, and free of gluten, nitrites, antibiotics and added hormones. All natural and made from prairie-fed buffalo, cranberries and a spicy pepper blend, the bar is designed to provide the protein and calories that triathletes, runners, climbers, and other high-energy and endurance athletes require.
“Real performance requires real food. It’s a simple concept that many of us get wrong on a regular basis,” Marcus said. “Whether you want to be your best for work, school, recreation, or elite competition, the Warrior Bar is a valuable resource to have at your disposal. And it definitely doesn’t hurt that it tastes amazing.”
“We are grateful to Aubrey Marcus and the entire Onnit team for this partnership and for sharing our mission to improve the lives of Indian people, to restore the buffalo to America’s grasslands and to help all of our customers live in balance with mind, body, and spirit,” he said.Tilsen said the Warrior Bar is the first product of a long-term partnership that will result in more high performance buffalo- and natural-based products.
Founded by Aubrey Marcus, a lifelong multi-sport athlete, Onnit Labs is dedicated to providing its customers with supplements, foods, and fitness equipment aimed at helping people achieve a new level of well-being they call Total Human Optimization.
Mark Tilsen and Karlene Hunter, founders of Native American Natural Foods, which is based on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, focus on creating a family of nationally branded buffalo-based food products that are delicious and that promote a Native American way of wellness that feeds mind, body, and spirit.
